About

A pledging program committed to caring for water.

Commit to making a difference. Pledge and take action to care for water at home and in your community.

Overview

H2Oath is an online offering providing the opportunity for students to commit to pledges around caring for water. Open to any grade, the pledges offered allow students to make a commitment to making a difference at home and in their communities, while also offering educational trivia around water topics and the pledges to which students commit.

Eligibility

Individual pledges may be undertaken by kids and students in any grade and without limitation by service area.

Classroom pledges are only available for classrooms located within a Cal Water Service Area. A teacher must register their class in order for their students to pledge as part of a larger classroom. Additionally, classrooms must consist of 40 students or less.

The Pledges

Our pledges page contains an assortment of water-based pledges. For each pledge that you submit, associated water facts are displayed around caring for water. Commit to make a difference and learn a little bit about how that pledge can help!

Participating as a Classroom

Teachers may register an account in order to create pledging pages for their classroom. Once registered teachers will be able to add classrooms to create pledging pages for each of their participating classes, edit those pages, view submissions from their students and submit their classroom's pledges to Cal Water. Teachers should only submit their classroom's pledges after all participating students have finished submitting pledges for that class.

For each classroom pledging page created, teachers will be provided two options for their students to access their pledges: a classroom code for accessing their pledges through the classroom pledging link or a direct URL straight to the classroom pledging page. Teachers will then assign each participating student a student code of one number 1 through the max number of students participating. For example if 30 students are particating each student will be assigned a number 1-30. This way no personal information is collected from students via the website. Students will use this code when pledging as part of their class, and it will be submitted to the teacher along with their pledges when they finish pledging.

Once all participating students have submitted their pledges (which teachers can check by viewing the submission for their class within the Teacher Account), then teachers may submit the pledges to Cal Water.

Classroom Conservation Kits

Classroom students may receive water conservation kits from Cal Water if they participate as part of their classroom pledging submission. After all students have submitted their pledges via their classroom's pledging page, and their teacher submits the pledges to Cal Water, we will review the submission and if the majority of the classroom has participated, Cal Water may send water conservation kits for each participating student. Conservation kits will be mailed to the school, addressed to the participating teacher.
