About Cal Water's
Tap Into Learning Program

Welcome to Tap Into Learning, an environmental education program brought to you by Cal Water in collaboration with DoGoodery!

Formerly known as the Cal Water H2O Challenge, Tap Into Learning is currently in its tenth year of programming. It began as a classroom competition in 2014 and in 2021 expanded to offer multiple routes to participate including classroom grants and an art competition. The program continues to evolve its offerings, today, which now include: Aqua Adventures, A Splash of Creativity, Water Smart Grants, and H2Oath.

Aqua Adventures offers free water and nature-based field trips for upper elementary classrooms, grades 4-6, in Cal Water service areas. Teachers simply enter their classroom online for a chance at one of twelve annual field trips.

A Splash of Creativity is an art competition in which students submit original artwork focused on caring for water. This competition is open to individual students in grades K-12 living in a Cal Water service area, and offers multiple tiers of competition.

Water Smart Grants offers $100 grants to teachers proposing classroom water projects. Applications are open year round to teachers in grades 4-6 teaching in a Cal Water service area.

H2Oath allows individual students and classrooms to make pledges and learn more about water conservation. Teachers and classrooms from a Cal Water service area who participate in the program can earn water conservation kits from Cal Water.
